Osteopathy Plus

GK Osteopathy can provide patients with access to rehabilitation and exercise programmes and alternative treatments, where these would add value. Gaynor Kunneke is qualified to offer Western Medical Acupuncture and has taught Pilates for over 16 years. She runs her own Pilates classes tailored to support her osteopathy clients at GK Pilates.co.uk. She is also an experienced Sports Therapist.

Medical acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles for the treatment of muscle pain. It is a technique widely used by doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and osteopaths. A Western adaptation of Chinese medicine and evidence based, it acts by stimulating the nervous system. One off, disposable needles are used each time.

Osteopathy plus also extends to pregnancy. Treatments while pregnant can ease some of the symptoms typically experienced at this time, for example, back and leg pain, aching/restless legs, aching hips, rib pain and so forth. Receiving appropriate treatment during pregnancy helps the body to adjust to the physiological changes taking place.

Cranial osteopathy is also available and is a gentle and effective therapy which treats the whole body, not simply the head. All ages can benefit but it is particularly helpful for women during pregnancy and after the birth, for babies as soon as they are born and for early year’s children.

The practice also has links to other clinics locally where specialized treatments can be delivered, should these be deemed appropriate. For example, IDD (Intervertebral Differential Dynamic) therapy provides a trusted and safe means of spinal decompression.
